Just show up

Consistency isn't the sexiest concept. The idea of intense, hard, concerted effort for a small burst is far more appealing to all of us than the idea of progress based on solid foundations and having a singular focus day in day out.

Achieving pretty much anything in life isn't rocket science. Most of the time, you just have to show up each day, day after day.

When you get consistent at anything, no matter how small, it's inevitable that you'll get closer to where you want to be.

Let's take estate agency as an example. Without question and without fail, every single great agent in the world is consistent.

These agents show up and they keep putting their work out there. And soon enough, good things start to happen. People reach out to them, they make new connections (or keep up old ones) and opportunities start to present themselves everywhere.

There is power in just showing up.

How many agents (or people) do you know that put on the suit and tie, sit in their office all day and call themselves an estate agent, without actually doing the work? Everyone wants to be successful, yet most are not willing to put in the work. They don't want to show up.

You can't be an estate agent without selling or letting anything.

You can't let or sell anything without a client.

You can't have a client without communicating.

You can't communicate without showing up.

So how do you make sure you show up each and every day?

Figure out the kind of agent you want to become. What does that agents day look like? Are you talking to lots of people? Are you on lots of viewings? Are you negotiating offers most of the day?

Work backwards.

Do the things that that agent would do. But start small. Remember, your goal is to be consistent. 

Talk to 11 people every day before 11am (this alone will change your business)

Watch a video on how to negotiate properly on YouTube, then film yourself giving the market an update on what successful negotiation looks like in property transactions.

Be their expert.

Get consistent with the basics before you try and do it all. You'll probably find they're all you need.

Imagine that you showed up every day for a year, what would your business look like? What would your life look like?

We can't answer those questions for you, but what we can guarantee is that you'll have made progress.

Just show up.
