Burdown Farm comprises a stone-built Victorian farmhouse with a range of Victorian outbuildings and 33.89 acres of land. It was built in the 19th Century as a “model farm” as part of a movement to improve agricultural efficiency. The threshing barn relied on power generated by a water wheel, fed by a nearby leat. The remains of the water wheel pit can still be seen in the Butterwell Field below the house. Although the house has undergone a degree of modernisation, the layout is largely unchanged and original slate floors can be seen throughout much of the ground floor.
