LOCATION
Hood Barton is situated on the edge of Dartington, a popular and vibrant village on the outskirts of Totnes. The village is home to Dartington Estate, a world-renowned centre of heritage, culture and entertainment, which sits in listed gardens, a deer park and 26 acres of South Devon countryside. There are two good pubs in the village, a primary school, and the South Devon Steiner School, catering for children up to the age of 18. The Cider Press Centre is home to a selection of unique shops, a café, a bakery and a monthly farmers’ market. The award-winning Ben’s Organic Farm Shop is less than a mile away, as is the Riverford Field Kitchen.
Totnes is about 2 miles and was once named as one of the top 30 coolest places in Britain by the Sunday Times. The town sits on the banks of the River Dart and offers a rich mix of quirky, independent shops, historic sites and vibrant markets, alongside many restaurants, coffee shops and pubs. KEVICC’s secondary school is in the town, as is a leisure centre, a cinema and the train station, which provides regular access to London in 2 hrs 40 mins. The A38 is about 3miles and connects with the M5 at Exeter.
THE PROPERTY
The Ruin is a gorgeous contemporary home, with architect designed accommodation arranged over three floors. The kitchen is well appointed and fitted with a good range of units and a curved central island. Integral appliances include fridge/freezer, oven, LPG Mercury cooking range and dishwasher.
The central feature staircase descends to the lower ground floor, where there is an artist’s studio and a second sitting room with woodburning stove and a door to the walled courtyard. Also on this floor is the laundry room and a cloakroom.
The first floor comprises four double bedrooms, including a beautiful main bedroom suite with a dressing room and an en suite bathroom with bath, marble topped vanity unit, walk in shower, a Japanese bidet loo, and a family shower room.
